Rescue & EvacuationIt has always been accepted that when working in more extreme environments, a rescue plan is required for the worst case scenario. One area where this is clearly the case is when working in confined spaces, where Rescue and Recovery has become an integral part of any system. The real problem faced so often though, Is one where the environment is perceived to be less extreme and where the exposure feels less dangerous, but the requirement for rescue may be just as real. Suspension trauma can occur in any location where a fall can occur but, with careful planning and the selection of the appropriate Fall Protection and Rescue Equipment the risks can reduced. Suspension Trauma Suspension trauma is the effect on a suspended casualty that can lead to unconsciousness, serious injury and even death. In part this is due to restrictions to the effective circulation of oxygenated blood to the body's extremities. This can be due to shock or compression caused by the harness or through injury. Due to the way, in which this can affect a person and the time it takes for this condition to effect a person, having an effective solution at hand for a speedy solution is key. |
